Dreaming of Summer....Thinking of Watermelon

Yes, watermelon. I was reminded of it when I ran across this photo of a wonderful slice of Watermelon Tourmaline. So pink and juicy it looks good enough to eat. Except you wouldn't want to swallow that lovely little diamond in the center. This piece belongs to my good friend Cheryl, and is filled with a double strand of variegated pink and green tourmaline and freshwater pearls. A faceted barrel-shaped tourmaline and Rubino Oro lampwork round complete the dangle.
(Rubino Oro is the Italian name for the color of glass, which means simply gold pink, but doesn't it sound much neater in it's native Italian?)

ICE OUT!

Well finally....the ice went out in the lake at 11:37 on April 24th. Unfortunately, the forecast is for a high of 40 with rain and/or snow. A good reason to to go to the studio! And here is a piece that will help me to envision those sparkly blue waters. It's one of my landscapes in glass, with a "man in the moon" face and a Brazilian Agate. There's also a lampwork bead hanging from the "moon". Enjoy.

Still thinking Spring.....

At least most of our snow is gone, but the ice on the lake still isn't out. Oh well, you can't rush nature, just sit back and appreciate it. So this piece has an Oak Leaf impression on one of my Fine Silver bails with just a hint of a goldish patina. Hanging from the leaf is a Lentil shaped transparent green bead with Dark Silver Plum leaves. It rests on a shorter rubber cord. Thinking spring, thinking spring.......

I'm Thinking Spring....

The good news is ...the Dark-eyed Juncos have arrived. A sure indication that Spring is on the way. The bad news...the poor little guys are having trouble finding anything to eat as we received 1 1/2 feet of snow while I was on vacation! Hopefully warm weather scheduled for this week will let us see the ground we haven't seen since Nov.
So I chose this piece with the Daisy behind it to brighten things up. There are cobalt beads with a layer of silver leaf and some Rubino Oro (gold pink) . They are perched on a short rubber cord with a fine silver handmade hollow bead in the center. This effect reminds me of a turtle's back. Spread the warmth....please!
